Author, publishing editor, and RayPec graduate to appear at Belton library

The Cass County Public Library Foundation is hosting Cheryl Klein for the signing of her book, The Magic Words—Writing Great Books For Children and Young Adults (W. W. Norton & Company). Ms. Klein draws on fifteen years of experience as an editor to create an essential handbook for writers of children’s and young adult fiction.
The event will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Northern Resource Center Library at Cedar Tree Square in Belton.
Cheryl Klein is the executive editor at Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic, where she served as continuity editor on the last two books of the Harry Potter series. She is an experienced speaker on the subject of writing and editing and the author of Second Sight: An Editor’s Talks on Writing, Revising and Publishing Books for Children and Young Adults, a self-published collection of speeches and blog posts on the art of editing children’s and young adult books. She is a 1996 graduate of Raymore-Peculiar High School and the daughter of Alan and Becky Klein.
Ms. Klein will give a short presentation at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served during the evening event. Books will be available for purchase for $18.95 provided by Reader’s World of Lee’s Summit.
