eBooks & eAudiobooks
Cass County Public Library has a growing collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks that patrons can check out and read on a variety of devices, such as the Kindle, Nook, iPad, and smart phones. To borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks, you must have a valid library card.
Use the following resources in the library or from home to access eBooks and eAudiobooks.
hoopla: On-demand access of over 1,000,000 titles (audiobooks, eBooks, comics, music, movies, and TV) streamed from any computer or mobile device by downloading the hoopla digital app for iOS and Android. 5 borrows a month per library cardholder.
Missouri Libraries 2 Go (OverDrive): Download eAudiobooks and eBooks to your computer, eReader, or mp3 player. Be sure to check out OverDrive’s new app, Libby, for Android and iOS devices.

AudiobookCloud: AudioBookCloud is a streaming Audiobook service with no downloads, no software, no holds, and no waiting periods. Unlimited access to all the books, all the time. Just click and listen. Their app is available in the Google PlayStore or Apple App Store.

eBooks on EBSCOHost: Search EBSCOhost’s extensive collection of eBooks and download to your computer or eReader. To download books, you must first create an account from a library computer.

Checking Out on Android Devices
You can use the Library’s eBooks on your Android device. Libby may not be available on all Amazon (Kindle) Fires or Nook Tablets. No computer syncing is required; eBooks can be delivered directly to your device through the free Libby app.

Checking Out on Amazon Fire or Nook Tablets

Checking Out on Kindles and the Kindle App
Cass County Public Library offers Kindle versions of many of its eBooks. These eBooks work on the Amazon Kindle and on any mobile device or computer with a Kindle app such as the Kindle Cloud Reader.
Instructions:
- Visit our OverDrive eBooks collection at Missouri Libraries 2 Go.
- Browse or search for an eBook.
- Once you’ve found a book, click “Borrow” and then “Go to Loans.”
- Next click “Download” then select “Kindle Book.”
- This opens the Amazon.com website. You may be required to sign in with your Amazon.com account if you are not already logged on.
- Select a Kindle device or Kindle reading app. Click the “Get library book” button and sync your device or app to download the book, or choose to send it directly to your Kindle via USB.
- You can also deliver eBooks wirelessly to a Wi-Fi enabled Kindle.
- To return a Kindle eBook early, log in to your Amazon account, go to the “Manage My Kindle” page, and choose “Return this book.”

Checking Out on Non-Amazon eReaders
In order to read the Library’s eBooks on a Nook, Kobo, or other eReader, you must download and install the third party software program Adobe Digital Editions on the computer you will be using with your eReader.
Instructions:
- Download and install the free Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) software on your computer.
- Create a free Adobe ID and authorize your computer. When the Setup Assistant appears, click “get an Adobe ID online” if you don’t already have one.
- Visit our OverDrive eBooks collection at Missouri Libraries 2 Go.
- Browse or search for an eBook.
- Once you’ve found a book, click “Borrow,” and then “Go to Loans”
- Enter your Library card number and PIN
- Click “Download” and select “EPUB Book.”
- In the pop-up window that appears, select “Confirm.”
- Another pop-up window will now open, and you will select “Open.”
- After ADE launches, connect your eReader to your computer. In the ADE screen, drag the eBook icon to your eReader.
- Disconnect your eReader safely. The eBook will return automatically after 7 – 21 days.
- To return an eBook early, click the drop-down menu on the book cover icon in Adobe Digital Editions and choose “Return Borrowed Item.”

Checking Out on Your Computer
You can read eBooks on your computer without any extra software through OverDrive READ.
- Visit our OverDrive eBooks collection at Missouri Libraries 2 Go.
- Browse or search for an eBook.
- Once you’ve found a book, click “Borrow,” and then “Go to Loans”
- Click “Read (in your browser)” instead of “Download.”
