New Assistant Director Appointed to Cass County Public Library

Harrisonville, MO (June 3, 2024) – Cass County Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Leigh Hallenberg as the new Assistant Director. Hallenberg officially began his role at CCPL on May 13, 2024, and hit the ground running meeting with staff, visiting the branches, and gearing up for CCPL’s Summer Library Program. Hallenberg brings his extensive experience in libraries and a passion for helping others to Cass County Public Library. 

In his new role, Hallenberg will work closely with Robin Hudson, director of Cass County Public Library, and the rest of the administration team and staff to further enhance the library’s mission of providing informational, educational, and enrichment services and resources to the Cass County community. He will play a pivotal role in strategic planning, community engagement initiatives, and staff development. 

Hallenberg joins Cass County Public Library with a wealth of experience. He holds an MLS from the University of Missouri and he has 22 years of experience in libraries, working his way up at Mid-Continent Public Library from a shelver to a procedures coordinator to an assistant branch manager and then a branch manager at two MCPL locations.

“Leigh’s decades of experience and collaborative personality is an asset to Cass County Public Library,” Hudson said. “We are excited to welcome him to our team.”

Hallenberg expressed his excitement for his new role as assistant director. While he has worked in library administration previously, he has not had the opportunity to serve as the liaison between the library board and the staff. He is looking forward to the interesting and new challenge.

When asked what drew him to CCPL, Hallenberg noted the collaboration and teamwork in addition to the community. “Cass County’s branches are given the ability to represent their communities in a non-cookie-cutter way, they’re not identical,” he said. “They really represent their communities well.”
