New Resources Available July 1st!

We are excited to announce that Cass County Public Library patrons will have access to 3 new resources starting on July 1st: Computer Skills Center, Resume and Cover Letter Builder, and Read It!

As part of our membership in MOREnet (The Missouri Research and Education Network), we will have access to these useful databases. They are sure to help students and adults alike.

The Computer Skills Center is yet another offering from Learning Express Library. It has more than 100 self-directed video tutorials for commonly used software applications. These videos are engaging and can be paused at anytime. You can even save your progress and return to them later. This can be helpful for individuals who may be struggling with popular computer programs.

Get help with:

  • Computer Basics
  • Browsing the Internet
  • Email
  • Social Media
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Photoshop & Illustrator

With the Resume and Cover Letter Builder, you’ll have access to more than 200 expert-developed resumes covering a range of occupations and preparation levels. You can, of course, build your own resume and/or cover letter and get help along the way. Reinforce your job search!

Read It! is a great resource for middle and high school students AND adults who have a basic foundation in English grammar and reading. However, they may need adapted reading material for a variety of subjects or help solidifying their skills. You can find resources to help build background knowledge, conduct research, and improve study skills. Read It! has some unique features as well. It offers step-by-step research guides and Lexile measures for text so you know the level of reading difficulty. There is also a text-to-speech tool that allows readers to highlight and listen to text.

You will be able to find all three on our resources page and on our alphabetical listing of databases.

Goodbye, Pronunciator and ProCitizen

Just as we get new resources, we have to say goodbye to Pronunciator and ProCitizen. While the above resources are now included in our MOREnet membership, Pronunciator and ProCitizen are not. As of July 1st, 2019, without Pronunciator, we will no longer have a foreign language resource. We will still have a Citizenship resource with Learning Express Library’s Adult Core Skills Center.
